For school business officials, PASBO membership is organizational based on the local education agency (LEA) in which you’re employed. If your school district, intermediate unit, career and technology center, charter or cyber charter school, etc. is a member, you can be a member. The type of membership for a school business official depends on your role in or supporting school business.

LEA Membership Types

An Active Member is: A person who is: (a) employed by a public or private school entity, or a college or university, located within PA, or full-time employees of designated agencies of PA state government; and (b) engaged in one or more areas of school business management or operations. Active members are voting members.

An Education Member is: A person employed in educational administration or someone who demonstrates a non-commercial interest in school business administration, such as: superintendents, school board members, principals, contracted employees, faculty and students of colleges and universities, education association staff, and those who do not qualify for other types of membership. Education members are non-voting members.

For business members, PASBO membership is organizational and tied to the company you work for. If your company is a PASBO member, you're eligible for membership as well there is no limit to the number of individual contacts each member company can have.

For our retired LEA Active members, we offer an Emeritus membership category for those who wish to remain engaged after retirement.

Other Membership Types

A Business Member is: $250/year – A person who benefits from commercial activity in the area of school business administration. Business members are non-voting members.

An Emeritus Member is: $45/year – A person who was an Active Member at the time of their retirement from full-time school business administration and is not currently providing products or services to schools either individually or with an employer. Emeritus members are voting members.
