The topics covered at the annual conference will be reviewed in a parred down way and will allow for open forum discussion and follow-up. These sessions will take place over TEAMS and are looking for active participation from the attendees. Participants should have cameras and microphones to participate. Topics Outline:
9:00am-9:30am – FMLA and Other Leaves of Absence: Ensure compliance and accuracy when processing payroll for employees on leave. This session will cover best practices for handling the payroll impacts of FMLA and other types of leave. We will discuss critical aspects such as tracking leave time, managing paid vs. unpaid status. Participants will learn how to accurately calculate pay, manage deductions, administer benefits during leave periods, and ensure compliance to maintain accurate employee records and avoid payroll errors.
9:30am-10:00am – Overview of Payroll from a New Hire Perspective: Overview of payroll from a new hire perspective. Some of the areas covered include pay schedules, common paycheck deductions, discussion on PSERS, flex spending, important sites to bookmark, and use of time clocks. There may be time for Q&A afterwards, as time permits.
